Certifications in Dumb Ways to Build
Certifications are the in-game name of the achievement set: 25 tasks the studio added so players can earn achievements and trophies.
What are Certifications?
Per the official Dumb Ways to Die website FAQ: “Dumb Ways to Build features a range of in-game tasks (known as Certifications) that you can complete in order to earn achievements/trophies.” So on Steam an unlocked Certification shows up as an achievement, on Xbox as a gamerscore unlock, and on PlayStation 5 as a trophy — same 25-task set, different platform shells. The full list with every requirement lives on the achievements hub.
What completing Certifications unlocks
- Cosmetics — official launch materials say completing Certifications unlocks “new and wacky cosmetics” for your Bean (crew customization is a core feature).
- Master Builder modes — finishing every Job opens the Master Builder replay layer; Hotel Hapless at that difficulty adds a new hazard. See Master Builder and the Dead and Breakfast page for the confirmed details.
- The emote layer — at least one Cosmetic reward was read out publicly: the Mogging emote, tied to the Hotel Hapless time trial on a launch stream.
The four groups
The 25 Certifications split into four groups by what they test: three Job groups (Hotel Hapless, Drain Strain, Crane Climb — six each) and six Crew tasks you can attempt in any Job. Seven of the 25 are hidden on Steam until unlocked — the secret achievements page lists all seven with their requirement text.
Where to track them
In-game tracking (menu path, notification behavior) is not documented in official material, so we do not describe a guessed flow here. Externally, platform profile pages (Steam / Xbox / PSN) show your progress against the 25 tasked set, updated as branches unlock.
